When to register
You need to submit a return and pay the levy by 30 September 2023. You must register for the Economic Crime Levy first.
What you will need
You will need to provide:
- information about your UK revenue for the last financial year
- the date when your organisation started anti-money laundering-regulated activities, if you started in the past financial year
- the business sector your organisation operates in
- information about the length of your accounting period
You will also need the contact details of someone in your organisation, including their:
- name
- role
- email address
- telephone number
How to register
The next sentence has force of law under regulation 58 of the Finance Act 2022.
You must use the online service to register for the Economic Crime Levy if you are supervised by HMRC or one of the professional bodies.
To register, you’ll need the Government Gateway user ID and password of the person or entity who is completing the registration.
If you do not have a user ID, you can create one when you register.
Online services may be slow during busy times. Check if there are any problems with this service.
After you have registered
You will receive an Economic Crime Levy registration number. You will need to make a note of this number and keep it for your records.
You will need to submit a return and pay the levy on an annual basis.
