Guidance: Locations you need to submit an ‘arrived’ export declaration before moving goods

Find out which locations you need to submit an ‘arrived’ export declaration at before moving goods and where to take the goods if they need to be checked.

You must submit your export declaration as ‘arrived’ before your goods start their journey if they’re leaving from certain locations.

Submitting your export declaration as ‘arrived’ means you are digitally ‘presenting’ your goods to customs. You must submit the declaration before the goods start their journey to the border location.

If the goods are selected for inspection, you will need to attend either the port’s customs checking facility or an inland border facility, depending on which location you are leaving from.

If your arrived export declaration requires an inspection or endorsement at an inland border facility (for example, Dover, Eurotunnel or Holyhead) complete the goods movement reference before attending.
